Abigail C. Avila

Abby Avila is a Principal in the firm, practicing in the business practice group since 2020.  Abby focuses her practice primarily on assisting closely held business owners with various business and tax planning needs, establishing estate plans for clients, and assisting with probate.  Whether a client has a new business idea and needs assistance forming a new entity, needs a contract reviewed or drafted, is interested in wealth planning through their estate plan, or is ready to retire and sell their business, Abby truly enjoys focusing on the client’s needs so she can find a solution that is uniquely tailored to them.

 

In her corporate practice, Abby provides legal services to clients in connection with mergers, acquisitions, corporate restructuring, various real estate matters, and tax matters.  Abby especially enjoys representing clients in transactions involving the purchase and sale of businesses and real estate.  Throughout her practice, Abby has assisted with and closed numerous sales of multi-million-dollar businesses and pieces of real estate, ranging from straightforward sales to complex sales that require entity restructuring, including in the form of F. Reorganizations.

 

Prior to joining the firm, Abby received her Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, with emphases in finance and management, from Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas, graduating summa cum laude. While at Southwestern, Abby was a four-year member of the volleyball team, receiving various awards and recognitions throughout her career.

 

Abby received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Kansas School of Law in 2020, graduating in the top 10% of her class.  While at KU, she was awarded a Cali award for receiving the highest grade in her Contract Drafting class.  During her time at KU, Abby also studied abroad at the University of Aberdeen in Aberdeen, Scotland, taking classes on comparative international contract law.
