Christopher J. Sherman
Background
Christopher J. Sherman is a principal with the firm, having practiced in our litigation group since joining the firm in 2001.
Chris received his undergraduate degree from Wichita State University, where he graduated with honors and served as Treasurer of the student body. Chris was also an active member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, an organization in which he served as both President and Vice President. Chris received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Kansas in May, 2001, where he received the William L. Burdick Prize and top honors in six subjects, and was honored for his outstanding academic achievement by being selected to lead his law school class during the graduation processional. Chris was a member of the law school’s moot court team and, in that capacity, argued before the Honorable Clarence Thomas of the United States Supreme Court. Prior to joining Payne & Jones, Chris served as a legal intern in the United States Attorney’s Office in Topeka.
As a litigator, Chris has handled cases in the state and federal district courts in Kansas and Missouri, has tried cases on both sides of the state line, and has represented clients in numerous commercial arbitration disputes. Chris also has extensive appellate experience and has argued many cases before the Kansas Court of Appeals and Supreme Court.
